Minakshi Sub-plan under MGNREGA-MP

The main objective of Minakshi sub-plan is to strengthen the means of livelihoods of villagers through additional activities of fisheries and fingerling production besides providing irrigation through irrigation ponds and ordinary ponds constructed on the private lands of beneficiaries under Mahatma Gandhi NAREGA. Under the sub-plan, small ponds measuring 0.5 to 1 hectare) are constructed for fisheries and minor ponds (nursery) measuring 0.1 to 0.2 hectare are built for fingerlings production. Katala, Rohu and Mrigal fish species are kept in these ponds for fingerling production. The beneficiaries are taking to fisheries as a permanent occupation. The scheme is helping in improving their standard of living.
